Artist Spotlight: Hiatus Kaiyote

Hello People of the Interweb!

Introducing to you all *drum roll* HIATUS KAIYOTE! The Multidimensional Polyrhythmic Gangster Shit future-soul band from Down Undaaaa. Holy moly, a string of silky smooth eargasms all the way through! From Nai Palm’s soulful jazzy vocal acrobatics to the almost ethereal funky combos of the synth, drums and bass, played by Paul Bender, Simon Mavin and Perrin Moss respectively. I first discovered them on one of my Spotify ‘Discover Weekly’ playlists (which are usually the tits) and instantly fell in love, though I only really listened to the song on the playlist called Nakamarra- featuring cool cucumber rap dude, Q-Tip. This chuuuuune is 4:35 minutes of what feels like absolute bliss in the sunshine. I’ve honestly listened to this song more times than I can count and each time it’s a new and wonderful sonic experience. In attempt to not wear out the song (pretty impossible though, I’m sure) I decided to listen to their discography- which I’m still listening to as I type this out and hjdvhfvhlkdsgsukhdsyvg! There’s very little typing going on as I can’t help but throw some involuntary whimsical hand shapes because mmmm- it’s going in! I 1006% recommend listening to them and because I’m such a wonderful human being with impeccable musical inclinations *blows own trumpet* I’ll make a mini playlist of a couple of my favourite songs by them just for you.

Wishing you silky smooth eargasms and hopefully a little inspiration!

Love and Light!
